Disconnect from distraction

There's no hurry, and there's never pressure. We don't have a program, instead we offer friendship and support as you take a break from distraction and attend to God.

Spring Retreat

April 25-28, 2025

Our spring retreat is for anyone beginning to learn the powerful practices of stillness, silence, and solitude. It's the perfect balance of structure, teaching, and freedom.

3 nights of rest

Friday - arrive between 5:30 & 6:30 pm
Monday - depart by 11:00 am
Airport shuttle service to and from the Colorado Springs Airport is available for a $50 fee.

All inclusive

$600 includes delicious home cooked meals, bedding, and towels. It also includes our printed comprehensive support guide for prayer, and a free spiritual direction session. The only thing you need to bring is your heart's longing for rest and reconnection with God (and your toiletries 😄).

Extra support

Our spring retreat includes 5 interactive teaching sessions on prayer, understanding ourselves in light of God's grace, and integrating faithful theology into our practice of prayer.

All of our sessions are optional because building a relationship with God is not about knowing more or doing it "the right way." It's about gently attending to the reality that Jesus is for us with the entirety of his being.

So, whether you want lots of help or just the space and support to spend time with God on your own, you are welcome here!

Fall Retreat

August 29-September 1, 2025

Our fall retreat is less structured, there is a lot more time set aside for solitude and private prayer. We still offer support, but it's perfect for someone who is comfortable with more freedom.

3 nights of rest

More freedom but still with support

Our fall retreat includes 2 interactive sessions and lots of time for you to explore, pray, and spend time away with God. We make sure you have everything you need so you can talk–and listen–to God honestly.

Again, all our sessions are optional, so veterans of silence and solitude can go deeper without interference. At the same time, our spiritual director is on-site and available so beginners are never without support and direction.

I'll be driving

Arrival
Please arrive between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Dinner will begin at 6:30 pm. You will receive a precise map location of the retreat in your registration confirmation email.
Departure
Our retreat ends after breakfast on Monday. You may stay until 11:00 am if you would like to spend more time in solitude.

I'll be flying

There is an additional $50 fee for our shuttle service to and from the Colorado Springs airport.
Arrival
Our shuttle will pick you up from the Colorado Springs Airport at 4:00pm. Please book your flight to arrive before then.
Departure
The earliest our shuttle can drop you off at the Colorado Springs Airport is 11:30 am. Please book your flights accordingly.

How much does a retreat cost?
$600. This includes a 3 night stay in a beautiful mountain lodge, bedding, towels, a printed prayer support packet, an on-site spiritual direction session, and 8 home-cooked meals.
Where is The Monastery of Our Lady and Saint Laurence?
The Monastery is nestled next to a gorgeous stream in mountain valley just outside of Cañon City, Colorado. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, and lots of public land, it's the perfect place to get away from the chaos of life. The grounds contain a spacious, comfortable lodge, a beautiful oratory (chapel), and many walking trails. (See pictures here.)

Founded in 2013 it is a working Antiochian Orthodox monastery that uses the Western Rite.
What kinds of things do you teach?
Our primary purpose is to encourage you to practice prayer rather than talk about it. Our sessions are therefore optional and mostly practical. For example, we explore what prevents us from praying, how to overcome distractions, and some new and old prayer practices.

But we don't have a program! We believe that prayer is a response to God not a system or method. Simply put, prayer is saying back to God, "I love you too."
What do you believe?
We are grounded in Scripture and believe in the trinitarian God of historic Christianity. Our statement of faith is simply the Nicene Creed.

Do I have to leave my phone at home?
No. While we we encourage you to disconnect from the distractions of phones and computers we don't require it. You decide how you are going to spend your time at a retreat, we support you.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel more than 30 days before the beginning of your retreat you can receive a full refund minus a $50 administration fee. If you cancel between 30 and 14 days before the beginning of your retreat you can receive a half-refund. If your retreat is less then 14 days away your registration fee is non-refundable.
