Does This Sound Familiar?
When faith or church has been a source of pain, it affects every part of your heart and life. You might catch yourself thinking:
- “I know God is supposed to love me, but He feels far away.” You know God loves you, but in your heart, he feels disappointed, angry, or disgusted with you.
- “I can’t trust my own choices anymore.” You second-guess what you think or feel because you were taught never to question authority or trust your feelings.
- “I feel alone and out of place.” You’re missing the connection and community you used to have but don’t trust the church or religion anymore.
- “I feel scared or anxious.” Songs, phrases, places, or religious settings trigger fear or anxiety.
- “I feel like something is deeply wrong with me.” You carry shame that belongs to the person or system that hurt you.
If any of this resonates, please know you are not alone. There is a path out of the pain.
