Virtual Workshop: How to hear Jesus in all of Scripture
Hearing the compassion of Jesus in the pages of the Bible can be difficult. We sometimes struggle with those passages where he sounds angry or condemning. We know Jesus loves us, but does he like us? Or maybe, for you, the Bible just feels dry and irrelevant?
In this workshop, you'll learn to hear the compassionate voice of Jesus in Scripture.
Using gentle imaginative reading of Jesus with the widow at Nain and the touching of the leper, attendees will get to know Jesus' compassionate heart. Then we'll practice hearing that same Jesus speak in a few of the more difficult passages such as the Canaanite woman and the rich young ruler.
This isn’t magic, and it’s not a technique. It is simply consenting to what Scripture itself says: “For the word of God is living and effective…” And “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life” (Hebrews 4:12 and John 6:63 CSB).
This workshop is perfect for anyone who feels like Scripture as just a moral instruction book or Jesus is just a demanding judge; or for anyone who has already experienced the compassion of Jesus and wants to know how to introduce others to him in the pages of scripture.
